I am pleased to be able to share twenty years of my painting of the work done at this sacred site of the World Trade Center at the World Trade Center’s NYC Culture Club at the Oculus. The work is an elegy for those lost here and a celebration of the workers and community who brought the vision of the rebuilt World Trade Center to life again.

I have been painting the Downtown skyline view of the World Trade Center from my Tribeca studio window since 1980. The skyline painting practice that was an internal dialogue with my immediate world turned into one with history on 9/11/01. I have been painting the emptied and now re-filled skyline ever since.

The most recent paintings depict the panoramic view from the 71st floor of 3 World Trade Center overlooking the Memorial, site re-construction and city beyond. The paintings foster a dialogue about how the external face of a city’s skyline reflects its people’s shared inner life.
