May 21, 2021

BMW Art Journey was launched in 2015 and is a collaboration between Art Basel and BMW. It was created to support international emerging artists. Since 2020, the pool of eligible artists has been widened to include mid-career artists. The judging panel is made up of art professionals from around the world; they select a shortlist of three artists who are then invited to present proposals for their own art journey. The same jury then chooses a winner from the three presentations.

Leelee Chan, the winner of BMW Art Journey 2020, has a solo presentation Pallet in Repose (Resurfacer) at Art Basel Hong Kong in the Discoveries sector at Booth: 1C41 with Capsule Shanghai. The booth consists of a presentation of four sculptures that together create a space for the hybridity of natural and industrial materials.
