Come Up Vol. 5: Ji Hee Yoo and Alice Yang
Come Up, is the project that has been conducted by FN Art Space since 2012, which seeks to aid emerging artists who have just stepped into the professional art industry upon their graduation from college. Through Come Up project in 2016, the Space has introduced two young artists, Jihee Yoo and Alice Yang, each of whom has majored in paintings and fine arts.
Jihee Yoo paints the spaces and buildings that she had experienced before. The extreme contrasts between the past and present, and reason and emotion, disperse and overlap with each other through the reflection of lightings. This ultimately makes the audiences meditate.
Alice Yang also reconstructs the landscapes by using her own memories. Instead of simply representing the reality, she collects the fragmented memories so as to combine them as one complete image. In the exhibition, Yang presents various types of artworks, including photography, paintings, and objects-based installation.
